WOKC 2024

10-12 May 2024 | Royal Southern Yacht Club

This year's Women's Open Keelboat Championship is the 15th edition of the event. As with previous years, we will be running both IRC class racing (BYOB - Bring Your Own Boat!) and the British Keelboat League Women’s qualifier, which is the highly popular ‘rock up and race’ format using a fleet of RS21's.

In order to help increase the number of boats - and thus sailing positions available, we will also be introducing a new Development Class, which will be a non-Championship option for teams who either don’t have an IRC handicap or need to have a male boat owner onboard in order to compete.

WOKC is not only a weekend of racing; thanks to our sponsors OneSails we will be hosting a training day on Friday 10th May with coached sessions, filming and debriefs for both yacht and BKL fleets, as well as on-the-water coaching for the Saturday of racing. Off the water, will be hosting our much-loved WOKC social, including a speaker, charity raffle, dinner and a live band - look out for more details on this in the coming weeks!

Race options

Women’s Open Keelboat Championship for IRC boats

Boats with a full female crew and IRC rating between 0.88 and 1.150 are eligible for entry to the Women’s Open Keelboat Championship fleet. Berthing is available at the Royal Southern for the duration of the event.

BKL Women’s Championship
‘rock up and race’

Entry for the BKL Women’s Championship is open to teams of four female sailors and you do not need your own boat to compete. This event is a short-course schedule format and will take place in RS21s in 2024.

New for 2024:
Non-championship Development Class

New for 2024, the transitional Development Class is open to boats without an IRC rating and will allow male boat owners to race in non-crucial positions. This class is not eligible for the women’s open keelboat championship.
